Overview

NOVA CMS manages a catalogue of TV shows, movies, cast and galleries. It is under active development, and the backend and admin features are the focus of my work on it.

The challenge

A large catalogue needs careful data handling, strong SEO controls, and images that load quickly on every device.

Approach

A Node.js and Express backend serves the admin tools, with Supabase as the database. Images go through a Sharp pipeline and are uploaded to Cloudinary, which produces WebP files at several breakpoints for responsive srcset delivery.

Solution

  • TV management covers seasons and episodes, with cast linked through Supabase joins.
  • Movie management is in place, with cast handling fixed for key-coercion bugs.
  • SEO management is a dedicated page wired to REST endpoints that support soft delete, restore and permanent delete.
  • A data fix: a Supabase row limit that was cutting off the actors table was traced to the PostgREST Max Rows setting and corrected.
